Discover us
Paddle Beyond offers unique kayak, camping and glamping adventures on the River Soar Navigation. Our trips include a stop at a picturesque and secluded campsite, only accessible by boat.
Our History
Broome Island was bequeathed by the Hemmings family to the 28th Leicester (Wigston) Scout Group in 1980. It was operated as a Scout campsite by the local Venture Scouts for a number of years, falling into disrepair in the 1990s. In 2014 the District Scout Network started renovating the site, a process lasting several years.
In 2020, Broome Island Community Interest Company was formed as an independant non-profit to operate the site, and has since taken the land into ownership.
Our Values
Paddle Beyond was launched to help bring the waterways to the next generation of adventurers.
Our objective is to support education around the waterways of Leicestershire; particularly with young people, but individuals, groups, families and Charitable Organisations are all welcome.
We offer a truly unique viewpoint of the River Soar and hope we can spark your interest in life on the water.
